Blog

Hello everyone,

As of today, every daily email that I was perspicacious enough to preserve has been loaded onto a blog entitled "Combe's Daily Email," which you can link to off the Garfield web page, or by googling "Combe's Daily Email."

I will continue to send emails based on what I observe in the classrooms and what I think need to be distributed, but I welcome anyone to go to the blog and see the old ones. The truth is, I find that I am repeating myself sometimes, and I may even send an old one to you anyway.

I am new at blogging, and I rarely read them myself. I always read my non-spam email, so you can see why I have been sending emails, and why I have delayed blogging.

If you find mistakes, let me know. Who knows? I may turn it into a book someday.

Dr. Combe,

Michelle Delgado here! Dominic Patacsil is a good friend of mine and mentioned a "Combe" from Garfield High School as his advisor. My reply was, "Mr. Combe! He was my 8th grade English teacher and my high school journalism advisor!" His response was, "Actually, it's Dr. Combe." Wow, I guess a whole lot can happen in 12 years. While curiosity has been named as the killer of cats, I decided to google you anyway and stumbled upon this blog. VERY interesting. It has taken me 12 long years to realize that I want to teach English, but I'll have you know, that while I took the longer less travelled road to the rest of my life, I have you and Mrs. Ruby Millard to thank for my interest in the profession. I just read your blog in which you state that a student's performance in a class has much to do with their likeness for the teacher and I absolutely agree! You were one of the best and if I decide to pursue a career within the LAUSD, I can surely say that I look forward to once again being inspired by you.

All my best,
Michelle Delgado
